  According to , Madrid are ready to 'abandon' a January move for Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool are 'unlikely' to part company with him in early 2025. The Reds are trying to retain the services of the 26-year-old, whose contract expires next summer, but at present, he is no closer to signing a new deal.

Even though the Spaniard is potentially out for the season, Los Blancos are reportedly not prepared to fork out a hefty sum for Alexander-Arnold in January. Liverpool are eager to keep onto the England international and team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah – all of whom are into the last year of their Anfield contracts.
